Howdy everyone.
Last weekend I took my 2kyuu test for the JLPT. For those of you that don't know the JLPT is the Japanese Language Proficency Test. It has 4 levels. The easiest being 4kyuu the hardest being 2kyuu. If you pass 1kyuu you can pretty much say "hey mother fuckers I am fluent in Japanese" and you have a little piece of paper to prove it. I dream about that little piece of paper more then I would ever dream about a diamond ring.
Anyway I took 2kyuu, Alex took 1kyuu and our Nikappu friend took 2kyuu. None of us are confident in our test. I know that I wasn't really ready for my test since I just passed 3kyuu last Decemeber. But I tried my best regardless. Let's just say if I pass 2kyuu this time I will pee myself and pass out. I won't even tell you what Alex gets if he passes 1kyuu. Let's just say I get to go to Russia if I pass 1kyuu.
I have an ipod program that practice vocab for the JLPT. Before the test I was practicing and this one kanji compound for "law" came up maybe 6 times. I got it wrong every time. But it showed up on my test and I was seriously like "fuck yeah" I almost said it out loud.
The reading/grammar part was super hard. Almost everyone ran out of time (or so I heard). But when the test proctor said "You have 5 minutes left" some guy farted and it sounded like an "oh shit." It was pretty funny. I was already done by that point but I didn't retain anything I read or any answers I gave. So who knows how I did on that...
I had Monday off because I have to work this upcoming weekend. Then today I went to the first day of my "English for Elementary Schools" Conference. I am not an Elementary School teacher. I'm just there because my Board of Education thinks it's okay to whore me out to Hidaka (my prefecture) events. I pretty much didn't do anything today. I stared off alot. Told someone how to spell "fruit" and "kathleen" but at least I didn't have to go to regular work.
Tomorrow I'll be more active in the conference. Today was just the openeing day. It's a three day long conference. I lucked out because Alex's Board of Education wanted him to go for the first two days. So I'm happy about that.
Well that's all for today.
PS: I won't get my test results until mid September. I'll let you know about them when I know.
