The ephemerality of a glance at a party.

Her eyes stung with tears as she peered across the crowded room.
The music-- a penetrating equalizer that seeped into every intoxicated conversation--seemed to cease.
The only sound she could hear above her beating heart was the excited whisper and the careless giggle that came from his new-found love
who writhed on the couch, throwing her hair back with a giggle as he pulled her close to him
him. My him. She though as she felt a possessive knot form in her stomach.
Her tipsy dizziness stopped as if it had found the gravity of the situation too great for its light-hearted presence.
He looked up and her puffy eyes shot daggers into his glazed eyes and innocent smile.
Nothing stopped. The drunken laughted erupted as couples throughout the room continuted their incoherent flirtation.
But the world stopped for her.
He saw her.
And he didnt care.
