Maia's Apartment Sunday Night

After a nice relaxing soak in the hot tub, Maia sat on the floor fitting the pieces to an antique Globe puzzle next to a roaring fire. Every now and then she would stop and stare into it with a smile and take a sip of wine. Life was good right now, it was very very good.

Maia froze on the floor, breath catching. Tossing a puzzle piece onto the floor she walked over to the door. She swallowed hard and ran her fingers through her hair before opening it.

She stood in the doorway, her eyes flicking from Tonks' new green hair down to her eyes then back up again. "Festive." She said not moving from the doorway yet, she would of course move in a moment but for now she wanted to know why Tonks had launched this surprise attack.

Maia raised an eyebrow and stepped to the side to let Tonks enter the apartment. She walked over to her couch and sat down and looked up at her. "Ok. Lets talk." She said very calmly.

Maia looked uneasy for a moment and then sighed. "I'm not shutting you out Tonks. You hurt me, more then- more then anyone has ever hurt me before." She said in a quiet voice but not looking away from Tonks' eyes. "I've missed you." She said still softer as though speaking the words more to herself then to Tonks.

Maia's eyes softened "I'm not broken Tonks, just wounded." She whispered "And I am healing." Maia frowned at her hollow laugh, "Hey." She leaned towards Tonk and rested her hand on her leg. "I'm not broken." She said moving her head so that she was looking into Tonks' averted eyes.

"Tonks." Maia's voice was soft "Talk to me." She knew Tonks was sorry, knew she had paid again and again for what she had done to her. She couldn't figure out how to make her see that it would be ok despite what they were both feeling right now.

Maia swallowed hard unable to look away from her. "I-" She tightened her hand that was closed between Tonks' "You- you came to talk..." Maia whispered, her eyes soft and her voice forgiving. "I want you to..." Maia bit her lip and finally she looked away.

Maia nodded "Yes." She whispered.

Maia stared at her, her mouth slightly open. "It's really wonderful to meet you Tonks. I'm Maia Leighanne Rutledge, I was born in 1938, both my parents are dead and I see the future." She returned the smile and stood up, she wrapped her fingers into Tonks' and lifted her palm to her lips and placed a kiss there. The kiss she always placed there.

"I'm really glad to meet you." She closed Tonks hand over the kiss and smiled gently at her.
