My 30th birthday was last month, on the 20th, and I had been talking for a while (at least a year, if not more) about going to Las Vegas with friends and have a really excellent time. I attempted to try and plan it, and even getting discounts on hotels through work my key people just didn’t think they were going to make it. I was disappointed but came up with other ideas that would probably suffice.
Other ideas were going home to Michigan to ski or going to Chicago. The latter seemed like a better idea at the time and I let everyone know that was what I had decided I was doing. Then between the cost of flights at the time and people also seeming like they weren’t going to make that either, I canned the trip.
At this point I was getting frustrated, mostly with myself. I wanted to do something special for my milestone birthday when I’m usually so ‘whatever’ during birthdays, lately I had been going bowling or did trivia night at a bar, nothing special. Since Pawnce and I had talked about it previously as a weekend getaway, I decided to look into cabin rentals in northern Georgia. From there I got a head count of who was coming and booked one that was pet friendly and had a hot tub (and pool table, but that wasn’t a requirement). Everyone seemed to have a great time and it’s something we’d all like to do again for longer than 2 days :)
