Severus Snape risked his life for a memory.
A memory that haunted his waking moments- a memory that dwelt in his mind, constantly reminding that he was the source of all his misery and he had no-one but himself to blame.
Day in, day out, he trod the paths that he had etched for himself.
Lies flowed easily from his lips like pearls now; pearls so precious that he wished that with their worth, he could buy back her life from the cruel fingers of death.
Surrendering himself to operate within a murky world of wraiths, he hoped that one day those emerald eyes would sparkle at him again, like they once had.
