So, this past week, I've been on this road trip with Intervarsity, as training for people who are going to interning on staff with them for the next year. We've spent time in Las Vegas and in Arizona. I'll probably talk more about things at another time. Now I just want to talk about the crazy stuff that happened to me today.
Today was the last full day of the trek, so it was a free day. W took a steam train from Williams, Arizona, to the Grand Canyon. The grand canyon is freakin awesome, I must say... anyways, the coolness begins on the train ride back.
This girl Sandra, asks me if I have any spoken word pieces memorized.I didn't, but I have a notebook with me that had some poems in it, so I decide to share one with her, and she likes it. So we include this guy Danny, who also writes poetry it turns out.We try to get him to recite one, but he couldn't really remember the words. It's kinda loud on the train, so we head to the very back of the railroad car we were in, so that we could hear each other. After a little bit, Sandra asks me if I can freestyle. I tell her that I can come with a poem off the top of my head, but not like rapping. She suggests that Danny and I beatbox, and she and I kinda go off of each other.
I'd done stuff like this before, but only in the peace of my own.so we get to beatboxing, and we start interacting with each other in freestyles, which, for me,is the scariest thing. However, as we keep going, I notice that I'm doing better and better as we go
