Life since Graduation

May 19, 2009 17:12

So I woke up on Saturday morning at 6:54 because my parents felt the need to remind me that I needed to graduate. I assured them that I would be there, called Scott, showered, dressed and headed to the arena. My foot was happily swollen by the time I got there at which point I promised to spend the rest of my life wearing flip flops even if it killed me. Graduation was boring. I did cry at first when Pres. Mason came to the mike and said "Well...you did it." It was heartbreaking to think that 4 years had flown by so quickly, but I must say I am glad it's over. I was getting really tired of paper writing. Saturday afternoon, I napped. After graduation my family and I, plus one boyfriend headed to Ihop where I got a sugar headache. I must say I was really happy to have my family on my side of the state line and plus my dad shelled out the money to buy the Alumni flowers they sold outside the arena. This pleased me. After they left, like I said, I napped, until Hillcrest close, where the true bawling began because I was sad as shit to be leaving the greatest staff in the world. We closed, we cried, we ate pizza, Wolfgang gave us words of advice (Safe, Sane, Sober, and Consensual) and we parted. I started moving out of my tiny ass room and into the house at 916 E. Burlington at 8 pm that night. We didn't finish until 1:30 at which point I missed the RA party and Laura's Party as well. Before he left, Scott so good to scare me and I fell asleep cursing his name. Sunday, I slept in. At 1 pm, I headed to Hillcrest to dispose of my futon frame and officially check out. Once Ben took my keys, I felt as though I didn't belong. As though I'd been kicked out of Disney land. I walked away holding my only belongings from that life: An umbrella and a plant that still won't grow. Afterwards I headed to Irene's to watch Being There, which turned out not to be as good I as I remembered. We both fell asleep, at which point we just decided to watch Amelie. After that it was just tv watching until the wee hours of the night. Finally after Dane Cook's Isolated Incident (Not that good) I headed home. I got up early on Monday for a job interview that I got!!! Today was my first day of work. It was really cool, if you don't count the gnats. I am a shipping clerk/ janitor-type person who isn't actually a janitor. I really don't know how to explain it. But the job is really cool, I work M-F 8am - 4:30 pm so I feel like a grown up. I'm not sure this is a good thing.

Why does college seem like a faded memory so soon?
