Mahmoth's Music 10: Weird Little Bits and Bobs
Alright, haven't done one of these for a bit, so let's get straight into the weirder bits and bobs of The Collection.

From an album of various bits of music inspired by porn music featuring such glorious classics such as "Silk and Sweat", "Baise et Rebaise Moi", "Suck My Disc", "Give Me Anal Pleasure Please" and, oddly "Wooden Shoes in Tirol" comes this glorious little mashup. Composed of a thoroughly pumping beat, mixed with some gloriously weird samples, apparently cut from Fifties Porn/Moral Advisory movies, this is one of my perennial grin-inducing favourites. Mostly, though, I play it for the one line: SEX-RIDDEN SMUTPEPPER! :D
Gertrude Stein, A Valentine To Sherwood Anderson, The Spoken Word: Historical Recordings of Poets

Somewhat less porny, but no less weird, is this authentic recording of one Gertrude Stein, an American by accent, but a Venetian by residence, IIRC, reciting the Valentine, a thing of strange rhymes, twisting of meanings, lists, unlists, twists, turns and thoroughly memorable phrasings. As far as I can tell, it was never designed to be be written down, only spoken, as it's based on the twisting of words, an admirable end in itself. The way most words corkscrew and turn back on themselves and rattle around like broken roller coasters makes this a brilliantly weird bit of verbage in the middle of an otherwise staid collection, especially when the tone switches down from the chatter of this to Robert Frost's low, woodsish tones reciting the darkness of "Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening" right after.

As for this, I'll let the liner notes do the talking: "Juba is a performance where the body is slapped with the hands. It goes back to pre-Civil War musical practices done by slaves and probably has its roots in Africa. Juba is as intriguing to see as to hear." This, however, will not prepare you for the sound of a 75 year old man slapping himself, dancing, singing and yowling like a cat, nor the accompanying mental image. Enjoy.
