This isn't a bookblog, honest

I was browsing bookblogs today and I came across a few interesting bits of news.

The Inkwell Bookstore Blog linked to a Wall Street Journal article about investing in art books.  Now, I have long bemoaned the ridiculous prices one must pay in order to guarantee high-quality images, but the books in this article put my college textbooks to ( Read more... )

My book list for Miss Kelly Anne earthangelgirl September 4 2007, 13:35:25 UTC
I habve a cold (written the way i am currently speaking) so I am currently sitting here in my fuzzy christmas tree socks (which never fail to make me feel a little better) and my principessa t-shirt you got me and Gonzaga boxer shorts. I don't know why I felt compelled to tell you what I am wearing--my head is very fuzzy. I hate colds.

Anyhoo.

1. The total number of books I own: 293 in Hilton Head, 738 in my bedroom and scattered other rooms of my parents house, 83 in my bedroom in New York. So. 1114? Not bad. (I chose the books to be sent to Hilton Head the last time I was home and in the total process ended up counting my cache and I just counted the amount I have here in NY)

2.Last book I bought: Mercy by Jodi Piccoult

3. Last book I read: Certain Women by Madeleine L'Engle

4. Five books that mean a lot to me:

1. A Small Rain by Madeleine L'Engle--this is the book that will, along with it's subsequent companion A Severed Wasp (which L'Engle wrote 30 years later--taking Katherine Forrester to her twilight years), be one of my vehicles throughout life. I've read quite a few books in my life--but very few have actually shaped my soul. God, I love L'Engle.

2. Alice in Between by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor. Actually the entire Alice series. The woman knows adolescent girls--she is one of the reasons why i want to go into young adult/children's editorial--I would love to get more books like these out to the public.

3. The Boy Next Door by Meg Cabot. Her adult romances? HILARIOUS. fun, enjoyable, creative reads.

4. Montana Sky by Nora Roberts. A classic Nora novel I re-read about 3 times a year.

5. Emily Climbs by LM Montgomery. Loved this book, loved this series whilst I was growing up--taught me what literature SHOULD be like.

Looooooooooove you. I'm going to go and make chicken soup now.
