pretty pictures
Photo for the church directory. It was my mom's thing, the rest of us were there under duress. Still, aren't we pretty? My dad is so short and my brother so tall that the photographer kept adding risers under Dad and removing them from under Casey. Mom and I are short too, but our height mattered less in the composition.

She's really a fun dog and she makes all kinds of trouble. This morning, I discovered her knee-deep in the outside water bucket, stepping her feet quickly so that water splashed everywhere. It was all outside...until I opened the door to stop her and she came streaking into the house, half-soaked. It was excellent. Now she's headed down to spend the night with Casey in Charlottesville. It'll be mighty quiet here.
In other news, Sen Warner is retiring after this term, which he recently announced. That's all well and good, but the cool thing is that I am related to his wife (via her late husband) and she stood with him throughout the announcement. The next thing comes from Neil Gaiman, currently in China. I saw alot of awesomely terrible signs while I was there, but this one may take the cake in sheer randomness:
