New and interesting things are on the horizon, but I'm going to wait until I'm sure about them to say anything. So.
Laura, my friend who lives in NYC, meets a statistically improbable number of famous people. I'm talking from Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, to
Jonathan Rhys Myers, to
Matthew Fox and, of course, Neil Gaiman. Yesterday, however, was the best of all. Not that she actually met them, but she did see
Christopher Meloni and
Mariska Hargitay filming Law and Order: SVU. I love SVU, and I love Benson and Stabler. To say that I freaked out a little would be, well, quite an underestimate of a situation which involved a (statistically improbable) amount of screaming and flailing.
On a latish-night run to Borders to procure a movie, Adam and I instead procured box sets. Oh, did we ever. Well, two of them. I saw a Stargate: Atlantis box set on sale, and was trying to decide whether to buy it. I'd only seen maybe a half a dozen episodes thus far, but I'd liked it and had become particularly interested since learning that
Jewel Staite had joined the cast. Anyways, I was on the fence and leaning off of it, when Adam proved himself a terrible friend by talking me into buying it for his own amusement. I can't say right now the argument he used, but it shouldn't have worked, but it did. The bastard. But since I made him watch the first 8 episodes with me and refused to drive him home until he threatened to curl up and a ball and scream and cry like a little girl, it's alright. I did manage to talk him out of buying a box set he really didn't have much cause to get, thus proving me the much better friend. He bought season two of House, which will make him very happy indeed.
Oh, but the best part happened after we got back to my house. I had assumed that I was buying season one. I don't know why. However, when I actually looked at the dvd, it clearly read "season two." But, whatever, we'd watch it and hope we didn't have a ton of catching up to do. The first episode was titled "The Seige: Part III." Yeah. Catching up. After they did the little recap of events at the beginning of the show, they ended by saying "And now, the conclusion" to which Adam responded "Finally! I have been waiting for months!" The jerk.
I just watched the second dvd on my own. I seriously love this show. Seriously. But my contacts are sticking to my pupils, so: bedtime.
I am in love with
Missy Higgins' voice. If you get a chance, download (or otherwise procure, whatever) "This is How it Goes." Every time that song comes up on my shuffle, I have to repeat it at least twice. Yum.
