Hallo and happy Christmas, all! I think that this is possibly my first Christmas as an "adult," actually, as I did not wake up at 5 and drag my family grumpily from their beds, I slept til 7 when my mom woke me up! 'Course, I did read till 2 am in an effort to ensure that this would happen. Anyway, so we did stockings, opened presents, and then headed to Richmond, only we all almost died when my dad decided that what he really wanted to do on Christmas day was drive like a psychopath.
Dinner was at Uncle Frank and Aunt Marjorie's, which wasn't so bad since they invited some neighbors over to join us. New blood is nice. One of the ladies and her daughter had recently been in London, and when she found out that that's where I was headed, she ran across the street to her house and brought back about 20 pounds she had leftover! And gave them to me! Anyways, it was a good time even if Aunt Marjorie did give me things which made me wish she hadn't given me anything at all. You know, dumb stuff. Aunt Anne gave me black and white striped leggings, placing herself firmly in the "current favourite" category.
This may be bad form but I'm doing it anyway...
The Haul
A new coat, from my mama. The style is like that in the image, but mine is a black and white weave.
Inverloch: Volume 1 from Aunt Linda &
Inverloch: Volume 2 from Casey
Mirrormask from Casey
A PC game version of Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient Express--complete with
David Suchet as the voice of
Poirot!
The very first episode of SVU on dvd!
The big deal!! Season one of the new Doctor Who--finally!!
Also socks (from my dog, actually), a stained glass panel (yay!), a new pair of
ear buds which will hopefully not fall out of my freakishly teeny-tiny ears, memory foam slippers (which I am wearing, comfy-comfy), a zip-up sweater similar to the one Katie found on the Metro and I am always stealing, and a pretty, lacy robe. Oh, and some neat Japanese stuff from my cousins who buy all their gifts from their respective churches stores (their both pastors). This year they apparently sponsored Japan or something, cause we all got Japanese stuff!
My grandmother gave everyone (meaning her children, not the rest of us) nice chunks of money to help keep the wolves off for a bit. She gives the grandkids money, too, but at birthdays. She'll be 90 in a couple of weeks and she honestly doesn't look a day over 80. If that means nothing to you, you can come with me the next time I visit her in the Jefferson.
I think I'm going to play my Orient Express game now and drool over all of the pretty 1940s fashion. Yeah, yeah, I'm a freak.
Two things:
iowabarbidoll had kept her promise--Talismen is back!
- The issue of e-mail in London has pretty much been straightened out. I will take my dad's Blackberry, and I will be using the address periwinkled@gmail.com while I am there. If you need to get in touch with me, that will be the way to do it. I'll try to update here in a sort of travel journal, and will change my e-mail here as well, so that any comments are sent to the above address.
Now I am gone!
