I got rear-ended today. No, not in that way, you sickos. I was sitting at a red light at the mall after doing some post-Christmas shopping, on my way to another high school reunion, waiting for it to change, when I just happened to look into my rear-view mirror (I actually quasi-obsessively check my mirrors all the time) just in time to see two kids (high-schoolers in all their acne-laden glory) in an SUV with a really surprised look on their faces heading straight for me.
Joy to the world for reporting it to my insurance company.
There was no major damage, and hopefully no injuries (although whiplash/neck injuries can take some time to appear), but the car did receive a small patch of scratch on the bottom side of the bumper. I'll re-examine it tomorrow in better light tomorrow. My initial reaction was to not bother filing a claim, but considering the car is four months old (practically to the day), with just over 4,000 miles on it, cosmetic damage shouldn't be on it yet.
The kicker - the kid who was driving had totalled his car earlier that day, and was subsequently driving his dad's car. Kicker two - the kid's all worried about whether his insurance is going to go up. And then he asks the cop who's taking the report if he should tell his dad. Um...yes. It might be smart, in the event that I do file a claim against your dad's insurance (what was in the car). I can imagine how THAT conversation might go. The kid's probably in enough trouble as it is.
But...in other fun update stuff, since I haven't really said anything of substance lately...Jenn's Christmas party/dinner was pretty awesome. Our Christmas dinner was very good (pictures to come), and Negar's post-Christmas party was fun as well. Got to catch up with some people who I haven't seen in two years, but I wish most of them had stayed longer. Hm, not much of an update, but oh well.
