okay, so my computer had to be reset recently (it's a mac) and now I can't get my email program to send any emails. I still use my wesleyan account, and I successfully got it to receive emails, but it won't send any. can someone please walk me through setting it up and maybe tell me what is the correct server name and stuff? i just can't figure it ( Read more... )

It's not your fault-- it can't be done. For some inexplicable reason, when you're not connected to the Wesleyan network (i.e. on campus) you can receive emails but not send them via applications. The only way to send email from your Wesleyan account is to go to the webmail page. Occasionally in the past my computer has seemed to be able to send email to other Wesleyan email addresses, but that was sporadic and now seems totally gone.

Honestly, I wish I knew how or why it worked for you before, because in my experience it really shouldn't have. I dealt with this the summer before freshman year, and somewhere on the ITS website it essentially said "Sorry, you're shit out of luck."

Incoming server: jlow.mail.wesleyan.edu
Outgoing (SMTP): jlow.post.wesleyan.edu
It's a POP account, and I have it set to port 995 with SSL.
