Right or Left -Ronon/Keller
Jennifer started when she felt a hand on her shoulder. She turned, relief flooding her features as she saw Ronon standing before her, looking slightly sheepish and twisting a blue flower between his fingers. “Sorry.” He murmured, his voice more than his words soothing the nerves out of her. “I really didn’t mean to frighten you.”
“It’s alright Ronon.” She managed to stammer. Again she noticed the flower and its ever-twisting pattern in his hands. “What’s the flower for?” She ventured to ask.
“Well,” Ronon started, suddenly animated into action after a long stillness. “I was thinking that you might like it.” He said, slipping the deep blue bud into her hair just above her right ear.
Jennifer caught his hand before it could leave her. “I love it.” She breathed. “But, you should know that it’s on the wrong side.” She plucked the flower from her hair and put it back in Ronon’s fingers. “You see in Earth cultures. When a flower is worn above the right ear, it means that the woman is single and looking for a partner. But when it’s worn on the left,” She guided his fingers to her left ear, slipping the flower into place. “It means that she’s taken.”
Ronon smoothed his fingers over her cheeks, his eyes never leaving hers. “That’s good to know.” He rumbled. “I wouldn’t want anyone to get the wrong idea.”
