I am in love with our house.
it's moved past a crush from afar and that tentative getting-to-know-you stage.
It's a giddy, passionate affair now.
though I have to say, out of all my relationships, this once certainly takes the most work.
the past week has been exhausting. I am accumulating new handy-woman skills daily.
I love installing light fixtures. call me weird, tell me to make sure not to turn it into a bad metaphor, but I am sad there are no more to do.
Painting is not my favorite activity, but the results are fun, and so it is growing on me.
Today, I am stripping the guest room floor. My shoulders hurt, but it's strangely satisfying. Like peeling dried elmer's glue off your hand.
I love that our dining room now has one wall of oak leaf wallpaper from circa 1906. We're going to frame out a few squares to preserve and pain the rest of the wall. Funny that the paint color in the dining room now actually matches it.
I love love love the sun room.
I don't love that our drain is backing up so that we can't run a lot of water makes it hard to wash out paint rollers and the like'
I love that most of our neighbors seem really nice and friendly, but the ones immediately to the north of us don't seem to have a whole lot of respect for personal property. oh well. nothing a fence can't someday fix, I suppose.
my dad came down this weekend to help with a bunch of assorted projects. he camped out at the house saturday night and made good use of that extra hour. we showed up sunday morning to discover a whole bunch of things were magically completed. everyone should have a home repair fairy.
