6/9/04 And so it goes..

Work makes me angry. I'm not even going to talk about it. Evil people doing sadistic things to good people, and we all get paid (some of them better than the rest of us) to allow it. Pathetic.
I started work on the piano yesterday. The wood underneath the crusties is beautiful. It's a pity that I may not be able to save the original cherry-colored stain. I guess I'll just have to start over from scratch.
The parts for my Jetta's new wheels came today! Wahooo! I've been on studded snow tires for a loooong time, and it's nice to be legal again ($150 fine for studs after May). However, my celebration was halted when I got in my car and pulled it 10 feet forward to the sound of the most hideous screeching I've encountered in recent history. Apparently, the Jetta has awesome brakes on the front wheels.. they're so huge, my new rims don't clear them. After scoring a groove in the new rims ~1/16" deep, I called it a night and decided I'll need to get some wheel spacers. Since it's a Volkswagen I'm certain it will require "ordering it" from a local merchant and paying 300x what the things are worth.. /sigh It's my reward for becoming a yuppie and driving a german car. No parts for you.. one year! (so sayeth the car-part nazi)
So for now, my car is immobilized. Angel offered to drive me to & from work for the time being.. Reality shock! I went from neat, custom car; to foot-transportation in less than a minute. Creepy.
