My calculus grade was finally just posted, and I got straight As again. This was my ninth quarter in a row with a 4.0 (four of these quarters were at East West), and this was the first one that felt hard, the first one I didn't feel confident it would happen, and the first one I'm particularly proud of.
It's not that the classes were that hard individually, but for me it was a balancing act this quarter. It was my first quarter taking a full load at PCC since the first of these nine quarters, in fall 2007, so that's probably part of it. (I greatly admire anyone who manages school and employment at the same time.) Also, the calculus class required far more hoop-jumping than I'm used to, and I'm a bit allergic to jumping through hoops that seem pointless to me (I guess I wouldn't be calling them hoops if they didn't seem pointless...) so that was a bit of a challenge. I was also probably far too much of a perfectionist on details that didn't really matter, which cost me time and energy that probably would have been more wisely spent on hoop-jumping. I'll try to be more prudent next quarter.
In any case, I did it, and I'm pleased.
