Ante-up Creator! Hi!
How you doing? I'm seriously excited it's that time of year again -- Losers things! I hope you're stoked, and not freaking out too badly. Hopefully you're going to look at my letter and go 'yaaay! I can do that!' If you don't... can I offer you reassuring hugs, and 'you're making something, just for me! So much love! <3.'?
Okay! This is a compilation of general notes from my Losers letter last year, and my Yuletide letter/s. You can also check out my 'dear writer' tag for the original letters.
General things! Hopefully these will be applicable to whatever you want to create, esp art or vids or whatever, if you want to go that way. I love affection, and snark, and being affectionately frustrated with loved ones, because you know them so well.
I have a competency-kink a mile long. It doesn't matter what people are doing specifically: being supremely fit, or being able to strip down a rifle in three seconds flat, or Jensen being able to hack [insert high-security database here], Aisha ... pretty much doing anything *cough*. I just really enjoy watching people do things well with assurance and skill. See also: physical competency, the ability to kick someone's butt etc. :D
Intimacy. I don't just mean sex or physical touch -- that ease you get with someone when you've been together forever, and can hang out in their personal space and never bump into them; all the inside jokes you build up; knowing they're okay or not okay at a glance. That sort of thing.
I prefer happy endings, or at least 'Things aren't okay right now, but they're going to be, eventually', endings. The ending of the comics made me *ache*, man. If you wanted to somehow write a comic fix-it, or at least an 'Aisha made it off the island (Because of COURSE she did). I don't know how Cougar could have survived the bomb, but I'm totally, totally willing to suspend my disbelief if you wanted to write it *cough*.
Also! I struggle with plot at the best of times myself. If you find yourself creating a plotty epic, that's fantastic and go for your life. Or if you're sitting there thinking: 'they have to do stuff? ohshit.' I am A-OK with a thousand and one words of lazy Sunday afternoon sex, or visuals of hands and feet, or whatever takes your fancy. You totally don't need to figure out a mission, or a *reason* for them to need to patch each other up or whatever. *grins*
More specific things!
I've basically requested pairings here, I've realised. You can run with any one of them, or all all of them in the work, if you were feeling adventurous! :P Or if you're in a gen mood, you're welcome to have the relationships in the background. Hell, you're welcome to run pretty much any relationship combo in the background (including Pooch/someone-other-than-Jolene, as long as Jolene is cool with it).
I requested Jolene/Pooch both to cover the gen base (which, I'm all for gen, right down to never mentioning that Pooch and Jolene are married etc), and because I really love that Pooch has a relationship outside the Losers, and is someone as cool as Jolene to keep him grounded and to presumably smack him upside the head occassionally. Totally cool with comics-verse daughters, or movie-verse son.
Cougar/Jensen is all about the repressed manly love, where you can't say 'I love you', but you hurl yourself to almost certain doom in order to save them instead. See above for the intimacy stuff, too. :D
Clay/Roque is a 'been together forever' couple. I'd be really interested to see how Clay/Roque would play out on a movie-background, with Roque not give a hoot who else Clay sleeps with (I'd really not want to read any Aisha-hate here), but there’s this other stuff that Clay is doing that is freaking Roque out, more than a little, including this revenge bender... having written that, I'm freaking fascinated by, say, the movie from Roque's POV, if you were feeling particularly like a challenge!
Aisha is such a fantastic character. I'd love a backstory piece, or an after the comics/movie exploration, or her take on the during either etc etc.
Things I'd rather/rather not have:
I'd rather not have mpreg, or character death, but if you want to write post-comics fic without a fix-it, I can deal :D I have a major embarrassment squick, or rather, please don't show people getting their hopes crushed, it's a weirdly high deal-breaker for me.
Things I am totally cool with, on the other hand, to steal and build on a line from a few years ago: "I'm cool with banter, non-con, humour, D/s themes, schmoop, torture, and angst." :D
If you'd like to double-check something or want more specific details, I imagine you can contact
kate or
lady_krysis and they'd pass on a message?
Best of luck! Have fun! <3
