mr_booboo,
black_samvara and I went down to Freo.
Mama Kin was completely new to me: she had a good, strong voice. I bought their CD, and put my name on their info list.
Ani. I had never seen her live before, but have listened obsessively to Living In Clip and Little Plastic Castles. It was an awe-filled experience to be in the crowd and hear her sing Fuel:
I wonder who's going to be president
Tweedledum or Tweedledumber
(brief pause and a grin while people in the crowd cheer)...
.
And for her to say she's so glad to have found the fuel in Obama. \o/
She sang Untouchable Face, and Both Hands, and something I didn't even know was hollow in me now feels whole.

She had an amazing number of guitars on rotation, and did magic with all of them. I bought her new one and her 'best of' album of reinterpreted songs (and Gravel, Untouchable Face and Joyful Girl are totally the same FTW!). She's 'smoothed out', she's happy, and I'm loving what I'm hearing.
It's the third or possibly even fourth time I've seen The Waifs perform, so I moved between hearing what I think of as old, old songs and completely unknown ones. They jumped and laughed around the stage, as always.
