I think you should differentiate between "just" doing something risky and having talent, passion or unavoidable reasons to do something risky. Let me give you an example

Passion is one thing you need to have. Without passion you cant do even a programmer job.
These kind of jobs which looks scary are LERNABLE if you want to. The decision you have to make is terms of whether you want to learn new things or not.
I am not encouraging you to take a blind risk. That is utter foolishness. But the first step starts with you attitude to take risk. Your instincts will guide you how to go about it.

I dont recall the name of the bird, but there is one bird with long tail which inspite of the danger of being caught and eaten by hwak, does some complex dancing in air.
I do agree that I can learn to drive an F1 car but what would be my reasons for learning? Risk taking? Do you really think so? I will learn either because I am an F1 enthusiast and want to experience driving F1 cars (if that was possible) or challenge Michael Schumaker and make money. It wont be because I want to take risks. I can take risks in my own profession. As I said your arguments for taking risks are not right.
As for the bird that you are talking about, I am pretty sure its a male bird trying to entice the female and its a part of its nature which we cannot understand "yet". I am sure all male birds (of that species) do the same. That doesnt make them leaders among the group as your original post suggests, at best the male would be able to breed with the female and thats the end. There are many more examples for this like the Salmon spawning, male Impalas fighting for females and getting killed in the process etc. And its no way related to the risks that we are talking about.
I didnt say that you should be motivated to go for F1 racing by my post. It was an anology to illustrate that risk taking attitude is attractive. Of course I am suggesting you to take risk in your own profession, because that attitude is attractive no matter which profession you are in.
Yes in the bird example its a process in mating. The do that in order to increase their attractiveness to female. Those who take risk and survive their genes will be propagated to next generation. Those who dont take risk their genes will preish. In you compare to times of kings, it can be compared to king who takes risks and marries multple wives and propagates his genes to next generation. For other who dont have any qualities, their genes perishes. Yes this is example is vey much related to risk because two basic requirement of any species in animal kingdom is surivial and reproduction. Though we cant compare human and other animals point to point there is a good analogy for risk factor.
Maga...all males of that species take risk to attract the female. But the female makes the choice about whom to breed with. Its no way related to the risks that you are talking about. Your analogy is just incoherent. I will just leave it at that.
