I've been watching American Idol this season despite there being no David Cook or Adam Lambert or Kris Allen on the show. It gives me a much needed escape from the current stresses of my life.
My favorite this season is Casey James. I say favorite because he's not the best singer. When the season started, I hoped that he might make top 7. I never thought he'd win. I still don't think he'll win.
Some of you may think I like him because he's nice looking (and you all know how shallow I am.) But I actually like him because those same looks have caused the judges to often make pretty juvenile remarks and awkward jokes and he's handled the situation so far with amazing fortitude, restraint, and grace. As to his singing - he's had a bad performance (sadly, this happened just last week during top 5), some pretty good performances, and a couple of fantastic ones.
Tonight, Casey did great! He performed Mrs. Robinson (possibly as an attempt to own the inevitable jokes himself? Possibly because it was one song he liked in a rather dismal list for them to choose from?) The judges, though, basically threw him under the bus. It seems to me as if they've already decided who their favorites are and Casey isn't one of them and they want him out.
So - for the next couple of hours, I plan to vote for Casey.
If you have a few minutes, it would be wonderful if you'd vote for him, too. Maybe one or two (or a dozen?) votes as a favor for me?
His toll free numbers are 1-866-436-5703 or 1-866-436-5707.
Oh, and comment if you vote so I can thank you. *hugs*
