Smallville Fandom Poll

I've been participating in the Smallville fandom for a few years now. Even back when I started, there were already people who had been and gone. I've noticed over the past year or so more fandom drift.

However, there's also a ton of new names and faces.

So - I decided to do a poll about Smallville and Smallville fandom.

I've been a regular SV viewer since Season 1 -- came for the mythology and stayed for the Clex -- but I didn't label myself as a fan. However, with the irreversible decline of Clark and Lex's relationship in S5, I had to get my fix somehow so I started reading fanfic. It figures I'd get sucked into the fandom just when the ratio of awesome to sucky was tilted in favor of the latter. *glares at Season 6's Lana blackhole*

I'd say that the last few eps show Smallville heading for an upturn but the show has always delivered great season premieres and finales. It's the in-between stuff that inevitably sucks. *shrugs*

My experience was almost the exact opposite.

I'd watched a couple of episodes, but it was actually the fanfic that got me hooked on the show.

I should clarify that I watched the first four seasons on DVD prior to Season 5 starting up, then joined fandom and have been watching in time with everyone else since then. So I did watch in order.

Only since Season 5? You've become such a Smallville fixture in my mind (if that makes any sense).

I was doing this poll in part to show myself that while some wonderful fandom people may have drifted away from Smallville, other wonderful fandom people have joined. You are a perfect example of that point.

The first episode I saw as it aired new was "Hypnotic". My teenage brother recc'ed it, and I got hooked last year watching it on ABC Family. The first episode I saw was "Onyx", followed almost immediately by back-to-back airings of "Shattered" and "Asylum" on local Saturday repeats. So, when I first started watching, I was watching the tale ends of Seasons 3,4, and 5 concurrently.

It was very confusing, but addictive. :-) After "Vessel" aired, I watched the series in order from the beginning of Season One. Then, I ventured online to lurk. Back when I was (somewhat) active in DS9 fandom, messageboards were the thing, so it wasn't until after the premiere of "Zod" that I found fandom on LJ. I like it here and plan to stay for awhile. :D

One of my conflicting answers (Rarely/never participated) is in reference
to my participation that consists solely of reading fanfics, and only if
it's regarding an author I'm following from another fandom.
