NOVEMBER NEWSLETTER
Hello everyone!
Welcome both old members and new (are there any besides me?) to the revamped Magyk Carousel. A place where you can find boyxboy fanfiction that involves mythical and magical creatures.
UPDATES ON REVAMPING
As you’ve probably noticed the layout and the profile page of the community have changed. We hope you all like the new look. There are info posts on rules and posting among other things so please take a moment to read through them. You might also want to have a look at the welcome post and meet the mods post where you can also write a short introduction yourself. A masterlist for all the fics posted in the community is in the works and will be posted sometime in the (near?) future. We’re also trying to work out a new holiday points system but that will most likely take more time.

Hello, everyone~! This is me, Aki, and I'd like to introduce my partner in creating fun activities and event line-ups for next year, bianca747 or Ria~ Let's all say hello, Ria~! So, you guys will be seeing Ria and I around, and we hope to hear more from you! Do you want to see events here in the community? Just let us know, okay? Let's all give Ria a warm welcome, okay? ^^
ACTIVITIES OF THE MONTH
November 1-28: Nomination round for the MCA
This is going to be the main activity for this month. There will be a separate post for the nominations where everything is explained in detail. Once the nomination round is over the voting will begin (assuming we get enough nominations to pull this through).
November 29 onwards: Voting round
This will technically be more of a December thing but because the voting starts in November it’s listed here.
MYTHICAL CREATURE OF THE MONTH
Since the winter is fast approaching and the days are getting shorter at least in this mods (Ria’s) part of the world. Therefore the mythical creature of the month is something related to sun aka the phoenix.
The mythological phoenix is a bird that has a long life-span (500-1 000 years). Once the phoenix nears the end of its cycle of life it builds itself a nest that it then ignites. Out of those ashes a new phoenix is born. The phoenix has remained quite popular through the years and it’s usually seen as a symbol of rebirth or renewal. If you wish to have a look at how the phoenix has been used in modern popular culture, please take a look here as the list is quite long.
If this inspires you to write a story with a phoenix that’s great, if not that’s fine too. Maybe another mythical creature of the month will.
