10 Things...

So, maybe I have a plan. At first, Graduate school seemed like a fabulous idea. Graduate school in Phoenix, AZ seemed like an even more fabulous idea. But something just didn't click. As I thought about moving away for 2 years, starting a new phase in my life, creating a new circle of friends, well, I became less excited about graduate school in Arizona. The thought of creating a new life (friends, career, etc) once again just makes me exhausted. And moving there for 2 years only to try to find a job up here afterward seemed like I'd just be putting my life on hold.

Maybe I should also add that I've been thinking about moving back to the Twin Cities lately. I have old friends there (well, the friends aren't old, but the friendships are...sort of) so I wouldn't have to create a whole new set (is it cold-hearted of me to not want to meet a whole new set of friends?). I guess I'm just feeling that in the past 3 years I've moved around and met new people and made some strong friendships...only then we/I move away and hardly hear from each other. It can be interesting to have good friends scattered around the world, but it can also be sad to not be a part of their daily lives anymore.

So with that in mind, I started thinking about Graduate school in the Twin Cities. And something clicked. A couple of good universities have the programs I'm looking for, and once there I'll be able to establish my career, rather than go to school elsewhere and try to get a job in another state (that task is daunting as I've come to find out). I'll still be close enough to come home on the occassional weekend to babysit the nephew (and see the other family members too I guess, hah). And I love Minneapolis. I'm a city girl, though I have no idea where it comes from as I grew up in a town that boasted 7,500 inhabitants...during tourist season. To be honest I could do away with the winters, but a girl can't have everything.

So that's the beginning of the formulation of a plan. Now I'm gonna go. And show "the plan" to someone else...

PS - EGT is in need of an American at the end of February. I am currently unoccupied. Coincidence? Or Divine Providence?
