In Birmingham, Alabama - the Magic City, sitting in the Highland Coffee shop a 12 year old black boy is sitting drinking tea and reading a book. If you ever happen to find yourself here, know you're in the presence of the budah of Brimingham.

If you aproached him, you might think to yourself, "Isn't that odd, someone so younge reading a book and drinking tea so calmly and focused", but then you might notice that he's reading something called "Go Rin no Sho" by Miyamoto Mushashi, parts of the book he's reading isn't even in English.

So you might just stand there thinking "What the hell?" When he looks up and fixes you with steady brown eyes. They're considering eyes, and he smiles very slowly, like he's discovered something wonderful about you, you might find yourself smiling back in spite of yourself.

You look around this kid trying to figure out more about him, since he's sitting there with a knowling look. The books on the table include Gandi's essays on "Civil Disobedience" - very worn and even a bit ink eve on the side of the book; there's also Sun Tsu's "Art of War"- this is also partly in another langange; and another worn hard-bound book that has what looks to be regilious signs on it, but you can't understand what it says. The kid's clothes are plain but of good material and now he's lifting his cup and drinking his tea, still looking at you looking at him, there's a slight smile on his lips, and he does this all very calmly wasting no moment, yet taking his time.

"Hello," he might say friendly, "I believe we might have known each other in another life."

Strange thing to hear from this urban youth. But the way he says it is confident and parts of yourself is agreeing with you, maybe you did know him in another life.
