Thrills, Kills and Sunday Pills....

Went to the doctor's today. My doctor is young - I'd say no more than 30, possibly even younger. In Australia it's possible to graduate with a medical degree at about 23, 24, and then I think you do 2 years prac or something like that. So I'd say she's about 28-30. Anyway, she was lovely. Very warm and friendly and easy to talk to, so will definitely be seeing her again. I told her what I suspected (UTI) and she asked my symptoms and then had me give a sample (oh yay - and the only time in the last while that i HADN'T needed to go! maybe my bladder was stage shy!) and then confirmed it. Yup, little infection cells haha. So I have a prescription for anti-biotics. YaY for not having to pee anymore! Well, all the time anyway.

Also asked about my HPV vaccination (I didn't forget
theadulteress !!!) She says they (the government I assume) are still getting them out to all the medical clinics around the country and they are expecting theirs in the next few months. She told me that when they arrive, everyone on their books within the specifications (aged 19-26) will be sent a letter and can book a consultation where they'll be told about the vaccinations and what to expect, etc. It's 3 vaccinations over 6 months and priority will be given to those turning 26 within the six months of the vaccine arriving. I am 26 in February of next year and they have an accelerated distribution period for those sorts of people - 3 vaccinations in 4 months. Because our stingy ass government is only making it free for women up to 26. If I get 2 needles when I'm 25 and then the last one is due after my 26th birthday, I have to foot the bill. Which is typical... if you start the course for free before you turn 26, you should get to finish it. And for that matter, why cap it at 26? Anyway, she says they hope to get them in the next 2 months, which will be ok for me.

Yesterday I met Tracey and her husband Greg for lunch and they introduced me to sushi. I am not a seafood eater, but I do like tuna, so I chose one cooked tuna roll and one chicken teriyaki roll. I liked them both, although I did kinda want to pull the seaweed off it and just eat the middle. I am not sure how often I will eat it, occasionally probably but it's another good alternative healthy choice for me when I'm out. The more options I have the better.

After lunch we said goodbye to Greg, who headed off back to work, and Tracey and I wandered the shops. I was looking (half heartedly) for a dress for a work function of the bf's in late August, but not with much hope at that particular shopping centre. But Rob had told me not to come home empty handed, so I got a pair of skinny-leg jeans (finally! I've been searching forever for a pair which are "skinny" all the way down, and not baggy around my very skinny ankles!), and some cute knitted jumpers/tops that were on sale for half price. Oh and a couple of floaty, gypsy style tops with a tie up under the bust, to go over the skinny leg jeans. Very nice. I also found a very cute outfit for the baby, a little pair of blue courderoys, a white long-sleeve tee and a white courderoy jacket with fuzzy appliques of a lion's face and a giraffe on it. It was adorable.

I figured I'd spent enough money, so Tracey dropped me home, and came in to see Power. He is getting SO much better with strangers, he is so much more friendly and actually comes over, wagging his tail and looking for a pat. His days of wariness are really being put behind him, he's so much more affectionate and accepting of affection.

I have a mouth ulcer on what has to be THE weirdest place ever. The roof of my mouth, right at the back pretty much at the back of my throat. It's in a VERY painful spot, as it's irritated every time I swallow. I couldn't figure out why it was sore/raw feeling up there, because when I get a sore throat, it's always much lower down, around my glands. It felt a bit "ulcerish" and today I got a torch, looked in a mirror, and shone it in my mouth, lol. I could see it, and the big, red inflamed area around it. Weird - I can honestly say I've never had an ulcer up there before. I get mouth ulcers a lot - I have 2 right now. The other is on my gum above my upper right side molars. I'm prone to them, because of my illness apparently. I've yet to make the connection between the two myself, but it's a common symptom/side effect I'm told.

I'm soooo full. Rob cooked a really nice stir-fry for dinner, with pork spare ribs in it, snow peas, broccoli, and tiny pieces of red cabbage, carrot, onion and red peppers. And lots of really nice noodles. I'm soooo lucky he loves to cook! I need to lay down....
