Aww, this was lovely! Poor Uhura (which also made me want to write fic of Spock in the cave... please tell me you're doing that).

His voice was like steel encased in silk. "Let them hear your voice. Give them a lifeline, something to hold on to." She hasn't left her post since he beamed down to the surface, her voice a constant stream of encouragement and comfort to the people trapped in the cave, their air supply dwindling with each inhaled breath.

I love how far they've come here since the movie, that he'd respect that when he says "they" he also means "Spock" as a separate entity.

This was a really good way to start my day :oD

I love this... You fit so much into one little scene! I love that you put the emphasis on Uhura and McCoy, waiting onboard the ship, and not on Kirk and Spock on the planet.

I would imagine that having to be on the ship when an away mission goes tits-up would be utterly nerve-wracking, especially if someone you love is on the team.
