I was looking up at the stars last night after getting home, something I haven't done in a long time. I started to wonder if in my lifetime, or in the lifetime of my friends and family, if the human race will ever be up there.
Now, I don't mean like we are now. Yeah, we have excursions into space, but the manned ones barely go between the Earth and the moon. I'm talking about taking manned flights of 500+ people to places past our solar system. Will we ever get to the point where we can fly by the Big Dipper and look at its stars from a close advantage? Will we ever get to the point where we can take a fly by of the normal dual-star solar systems?
