Too ligit, too ligit to quit! Hey hey .... too ligit.

I went to the career fair today and talked to Intel, which is expanding in Latin America; the American Cancer Society, which has large Latino audiences in Orlando & Miami; and the U.S. State Dept. The latter two I think I was most excited about, particularly the State Dept. The guy there said I am most suited for the public diplomacy track in the foreign service, and he suggested I take the foreign service exam. Which is when all my hopes came crashing down. It is a mother of an exam, there is no way to study for it really, and I don't know anyone who has passed it. If you do pass the written one ... you are scheduled for an 11-hour oral exam and interview a few months down the line. And then, if by some chance you pass that, there is paperwork, medical exams, etc to be had before you can even think about a posting. So say you, by God's good graces, pass the oral in say, July or August. Usually you don't receive an assignment until January-March, if you are lucky. Geez. But oh, if you do ever make it that far, you are set. For life. Schweet.

It's funny. There were jobs there that neither my friends nor I would even consider for ideological reasons. You see, we, as citizens of the First World, are lucky enough to have the opportunity to refuse to consider working for a company because of what it does or whom it represents. We are bastards, and never go to sleep hungry. I fully realize this. And with this knowledge, my compatriots and I still snobbily passed by Lockheed Martin (for one).

There is a couple arguing outside of my door. Oh, domestic disturbances, how lovely. I can't wait ... tonight is LOST. My love for that show, and the character Jack in particular, is never-ending it would seem. On this note, I leave you all. Have a good night.
