This was meant to be a very quick observation before my "Heart of Gold" rewatch, but then I spent two hours making what I hoped would be the perfect icon to accompany it, and now I need to just get on the bike and get in some exercise before I get ready for bed. And I can't even say that I'm satisfied with the icon, since you can hardly see her expression now that I've put in all the bells and whistles, and the expression is the whole point... But, yeah, what I originally planned to say was this:
I know my statuses as a grumpy old fandom gran who just wants everyone to stay off her lawn AND a newbie whose time on the Avatar bandwagon is measured in weeks rather than years should probably disqualify me from commenting, but I can't help but feel that debating aspects of the personalities of the characters in Legend of Korra as though it is possible to be an expert on the subject is *extremely* premature. If we already know everything about them from two episodes and some promotional material, forgive me if I say I'm suddenly not all that interested in the show, because static characters who can be summed up that quickly are not big draws for me. Seriously, fandom, if you're going to pick sides in shipping wars before the first episode airs, then inevitably spend the entire course of the series kicking up a fuss every time things don't go the way you decided they should before the first episode aired, what is the point of watching the show? Go write your own stories, because you have apparently already developed your own characters.
first-world problems,
maggie's fault,
what did you do to avatar?,
things that displease me
