I'm currently catching up on all the media I missed while in OK and TX, so I've finally* read BS9 #7. To that end:

I thought I was having this reaction at the end of #5, but I had no idea. SHIT WAS NOT YET REAL AT THAT POINT.
And then, by Grapthar's Hammer, I had ALL THE EMOTIONS in #6, and I fully expected them (Whedon, who plotted the course of the season, and Chambliss, who has been writing the issues) to chicken out from following all the way through in #7, and I didn't want to see that happen because I would lose some respect for them for not committing to telling a tough, controversial story and because the world needs quasi-main-ish-stream fiction that tackles this kind of story seriously, ESPECIALLY RIGHT NOW HOLY CRAP.

I will eventually go see Hunger Games, but I clearly do not need it right now. I am full of drama and heartache, both in my fiction and in my actual for-real life.
At least my wait for #8 is shorter than usual...
PS: I have to take off a percentage point because Chambliss isn't Lynch and therefore cannot pull this story off while simultaneously getting his sense of humour right, and another because he stood in the way of Buffy's autonomy***, but Spike is, like, 98% perfect here. SPIIIIIIIIIIKKKKKKKKE. And BUUUUUUUUUUFFYYYYYYYYY. NOT IN A SHIPPY WAAAAAAAAAAAAY****.
PPS: Is Buffy with Willow?!!?!?!?? PLEASE TO BE DOING THIS I NEED BUFFY WILLOW BFF ADVENTURETIME IN MY LIFE RIGHT NOW. I'M GOING TO REREAD EVERYTHING RIGHT NOW TO SEE IF THIS IS POSSIBLE.
PPPS: I saw the name "Katrina Seiber" on something today. That was kind of weird, and made me want to punch Warren Millers in the face.
* FINALLY OMG I ALMOST STOPPED AT A COMIC SHOP TO BUY A COPY WHILE TRAVELING EVEN THOUGH I HAD ONE BEING SHIPPED TO MY HOUSE (I AM REALLY, REALLY HOPING THE LCS I SAW IN STILLWATER ISN'T HOSTILE TO GEEK GIRLS WHO PRIMARILY READ WHEDON COMICS**, BECAUSE IT WOULD BE SUPER COOL TO BE ABLE TO HAVE A PULL-LIST INSTEAD OF PAYING SHIPPING FOR MY TFAW SUBSCRIPTIONS)
** So no one gets the wrong impression, there is an AWESOME LCS in my area that I love going to and have never had any problem at all with (TBS Comics - love you guys!), but it's about 45 minutes from where I live, and I rarely have reason to go down there these days...hence my TFAW set-up. Which is not to say that TFAW isn't pretty awesome, too - I've never had any reason not to love everything about the way they opperate. Just...the shipping costs are consistently higher than the price of the actual comics.
*** In a way, I might add, that negatively affected him, all while supporting her autonomy in two instances that ALSO negatively impact his life. Masochism, thy name is William.
