How is it that the only thing I ever remember about "Doomed" - if I bother to remember it exists at all - is that Riley winds up in the library at SHS, when in actuality all good things come from it? That episode is 100% pure, undiluted awesome in convenient 1-hour dramedy form. Aside from that weird overdubbing thing with Giles at the beginning, it may be the single most perfect episode of the show, and I'm glad I decided to bike to it instead of "Something Blue"*, as I very nearly did, because I can always remember just how fantastic that episode is. Maybe "Doomed' will finally stop slipping my mind, now.
UGHHHHHH, I LOVE SPIKE SO MUCH. Also, watching scenes with Willow and Spike after reading Lynch's comics is so rewarding I can't even tell you. And Giles, you guys. GILES. How is it possible that he is the best Watcher ever when he is always so very wrong?
And for those of you wondering how the Lorne project turned out,
here are pictures.
* Yes, I am on a purely nocturnal schedule right now. This is highly inconvenient, given the fact that it's too buggering cold to be out in my office at night, but my schedule should whip back around to normal human being hours in the next day or so, and then much work will be done. [nods]
ETA: Angel Funfact: "Forgiving" is actually HARDER to watch the second time. I think that one might even beat out "Reprise" on my list of episodes that effing kill me. If it weren't for Lorne-baby, I think it would be even more distressing than "Seeing Red"**. I just... I just CAN'T. MY WHOLE BRAIN IS CRYING.
** I bloody LOVE Lorne, in case that had gone unnoticed.
