This is why I read Peter David's blog. Best thing I've seen all day, and I watched multiple Golden Girls episodes* and "The Beast Below"**, saw
a picture of Neil Gaiman with Amber Benson***, and read Spike #4. Hee.
And speaking of Spike, I've definitely decided to NOT read Brian Lynch's blog again until the series is over. The end of #4 could have been as shockingly awesome as the end of Darkwing #7 was if I hadn't already known it was coming. I still did a seated version of Numfar's Dance of Joy when I actually read it (and GAWD, is that Runge cover teaser gorgeous or WHAT?! Not because of the shipper fuel, but as a piece of art. _Why_ didn't I stop by the IDW booth at ComicCon?), and I pretty much CANNOT WAIT for next month's issue, but it wasn't the ::GASSSSSSSP!:: moment it could have been. So I guess I'll check back in with Lynch in a few months.
I also read the various Angel: Spotlight stories over the past week or so, and, while they definitely vary in quality, there is good stuff in all of them. Peter David's Illyria story is without doubt the best of the bunch, but that was no surprise. What was a surprise was how much Tipton's Wesley story didn't annoy me...although I do wonder if he is physically capable of writing an Angel comic that doesn't prominently feature an insufferably smug Spike.
* Including "The Heartattack," because I'm a freakin' idiot...
** I liked this one perhaps even more this time than I did when I saw it when it was first aired. And I liked it quite a lot that time. I'm still not thrilled with the probably-hypocritical comment about Amy not getting to decide what he gets to know, but otherwise, it's great, and I just love both leads' mannerisms. We'll see tomorrow how much more "The Doctor Is Besties with Churchill" irritates me now that I've seen The King's Speech.
*** Is there anyone awesome and famous he doesn't know?
