But...huh...wha...

So...

...the beginning of "The Enemy Within" happened before "Remebrance of the Daleks," then?

Time travel is so complicated...

(Also, finishing that serial just after rewatching "Waters of Mars" is, y'know, not a comforting way to spend time with The Doctor.)

doctor who, eight and his perfectly-fitted shoes, wha huh?, paisley-bedecked seven

Huh. I still haven't seen "The Enemy Within", so THAT isn't the future thing that I immediately connected Remembrance to, when I saw the ending ( ... )

There's a line in S3/29 where a Dalek refers to that event as happening during "a great war," so I always assumed it was something that happened after "The Enemy Within." I've now heard that Davies said in a Doctor Who Confidential (which I now have, I just haven't _watched_ them) that "Genesis" was the "first strike" of the Time War...so what Seven did might have been what escalated the Time War from background Cold War-type situation that took a back seat to the Dalek Civil War to...something that ended in double genocide ( ... )

Yeah...I guess...what really gets me, about Seven's reign, is that the _part_ of the new-series style that is creeping in at this point is...a _tone_ that I never expected to see in the cheesy, colourful '80s, and even though I know it's there now it keeps SMACKING me upside the head anyway ( ... )
