B) I love Monk. SO MUCH. Even though USA/the writers are BASTARDS for splitting the finale like this. I'm just glad I had to wait until I had hardly any wait left to watch it. Being sick _and_ anxious about the resolution would not have made for a pleasant week.
C) D.B. Woodside got to participate in a classic Monk conversation! Like he's a real part of the family or something! I'm still physically incapable of saying anything truly positive about Robin Wood, but I'm free to adore Dr. Matthew Shuler without reservation. And so I shall.
D) I REALLY wish Melora Hardin hadn't been so fantastic as Jan Levinson, because, even though I knew her as Trudy first, even though every time I saw her on The Office, my first response was "Trudy!!", even though she's absolutely perfect...we don't actually see enough of Trudy outside Monk's mental image of her and a few flashbacks (typically with an air of mystery, since we rarely see her not as Monk remembers her, but as she actually was unless it's directly linked to her death. Which was a little shady), so, my brain fills in some of the missing details without me telling it to. Or wanting it to. The little part of me that filled in the cliffhanger with, "I had an affair with Michael Scott" was NOT welcome. Stupid brain. No cookie for you.
E) Lest
Magneto win the I Love Him So Much battle,
Professor Xavier has made a bid for my heart.
F) We're still a ways out from my 24-hour window of holiday spirit, and I really just don't like Christmas songs with English lyrics...but I have always liked "Little Drummer Boy" for some reason, and I've just found
a new favourite version.
