So for my first list of phone numbers to call for my internship my superior, Sarah, gave me a list of numbers all in Bloomington area codes. It was really awkward running across people I knew...I saw several last names I recognized. Tousignant, Fairman, Brezny. None of which answered, but it was still hilarious and slightly awkward to run across their names. I'm also pretty sure I talked to Erica Patterson's mom who was way nicer than I remember her being...and then I talked to Sarah Bjornstad, whom I used to be on the speech team with. And she declined me right off the bat and wouldn't even listen to my spiel. Not that I have anything against Sarah Bjornstad. In fact, it probably would have been more beneficial to my cause to somehow acknowledge the fact that I knew her...but I did not...and therefore I fail. On the upside I did talk to a few pleasant people.
AND! For any of you who are interested in health care reform/universal health care/single payer health care/etc... There's going to be a community discussion/presentation thinger at..
Normandale Community College
Garden Lounge of the Kopp Student Center
Wednesday July 8th
Registration/Sign-in at 6pm
Meeting from 6:30pm-8:30pm.
and it's free! A few senators and some candidates for governor of MN will be there, so if you're interested at all in politics and are curious to hear what a few of the potential gubernatorial candidate's views are on health care then it would definitely be a good meeting to attend! :) I'll be there!
That's my little plug for the evening.
P.S. I really can't help but feel like I'm in some sort of eerie horror movie when I call someone up, and ask for "Richard", and the little old lady on the other end of the phone says "he's been dead for nine years!!" *shudder* phone calls are weird.
