OK, I am confused, totally confused, here is the response I received from the restricted section.....

Hi

While there is nothing I can reject your fic for, I
find your choice of name for the OOC confusing - I
thought at first that it was Rose Weasley, and I'm
sure most readers would, too. I suggest you consider
renaming the character to something that ( Read more... )

Rose Weasley? Who? Is that one of Ron and Hermione's brats?

Ah well, I guess a swift name change isn't too much hassle.

Do you ever say she's Rose Weasley? Maybe you should pop in her last name in the story every once in a while, just for the Admins? And anyway, if this is in an OFC section, it shouldn't be confusing.

Challenge this, ok? Say that you'll add in extra info in the summary of the fic to make sure people know it's not Rose Weasley.

Seriously, this is no reason to reject a fic. And say what you said to us-how Rose has been Rose for a while now, and that's part of her character...(omg, if it fits the timeline with the epilogue, you should totally make reference to how she-the character-is often confused with Rose Weasley in name! Heh. Or not.)

First off, the Restricted Section of what?

The admin has phrased her reply in very ungracious terms. "While there is nothing I can reject your fic for..." as if she were hoping desperately to do just that. It comes across as very reluctant and crabby. I'm not sure she meant it that way, but if she's a guardian of language, she should watch the nuances of her own.

If Rose Weasley is only mentioned at the very end of DH, I can't imagine why people would be mixing up the characters. Nit-picker extraordinaire.

Agree, it's a very abrupt letter. And she's 'sure' most readers would think the woman in your Snape/OFC(!) fic was Ron and Hermione's child, even though Sirius Black is still alive and the Order in full swing. Nah, on second thought, this is a really stupid point she's making. Worth querying it.
