Wake Up People

If you ask most Christians today to explain why someone else should be a Christian, most couldn't give any answer other than you won't go to hell when you die. That answer doesn't cut it people. If that is the only response I get, I'm gonna play the odds and convert when I'm an old man. What's saddest of all is when people believe in God, go to church, but still are not saved. Then, of course, you hear the "but I said the words" speech from them as you tell them it might not be the best idea to go home trashed with someone they met at a bar. Even excluding this group of "Christians" still leaves us with the ones that hold back because we don't want people to think we're crazy and be excluded from the group. Well guess what, that's what we are supposed to be...set apart, a particular people. If you tell someone that you serve in the Kingdom of God and that there is an invisible, constant spirtual war all around us, you might be thought of as crazy by some. We are not in an ancient Roman empire where only one of the twelve disciples died of old age. We are in America and we can say whatever we choose. The knowledge of death shouldn't stop us and we are still afraid of what others think. The result is a bunker mentality where we feel safe in our little groups where we don't have to interact with the so-called "heathen masses" that might not like what we have to share. I would find it very discouraging if someone who knew me for more than a week was surprised to discover I was a Christian. God called us to be a light to the world, to represent him on Earth. Do we then cower from people who don't like what we have to say? Is our belief so weak? I say all Christians should start actually living for God, like we were supposed to all along, and expand the Kingdom. No more speeches, no more hollow words like "I need to get right with God first" or "I don't have the time," just start doing what the Bible tells us to do.
