PORT HURON, Mich. (AP) - A Michigan man accused of breaking into a gas station before calling police to turn himself in so he could see his brother in jail has pleaded to a lesser charge.
Twenty-four-year-old Matthew Robert Kiss of Imlay City pleaded guilty Friday to attempted breaking and entering.
St. Clair County Circuit Judge James Adair will sentence Kiss on April 27.
Police say Kiss broke into a gas station in Capac, smoked cigarettes and drank alcohol before calling 911 on himself, saying he wanted to go to jail to see his incarcerated brother. He was not allowed to see his brother.
A message seeking comment was left for defense attorney James Downey.
