Epica live 16.05.2012 review - read the whole thing or go away!
Note: Excuse all the grammar, spelling etc. mistakes, who cares about it when writing about Epica, not me!
It’s been second time that I saw Epica live. And my Epica story is again awesome and very VIPish. ;) So. We arrived at the venue around 2pm. Again we were the first to be there, yay! Well except for one girl, but she immediately joined us, so she was one of us anyway. We went inside and saw Epica merch guy. He said it’s not open to the public yet but then Epica’s menager said we can stay as long as we stay in the hall and not go further into. They closed the door for the rest of people that might try to come in as well. Yay, we felt VIP already. So there were 5 of us, sitting in the hall seeing all the people coming and going, all the crew people of the three bands and also Manuela from Xandria. After some time of nothing much happening we decided we needed to go to get something to eat. So we went. But when we came back there were already some more people so we didn’t want to try to get in again as others might have want to too yeah… We stood at the door and we could hear Epica’s soundcheck. There were glass in the door so we could see inside, and as the door to the stage hall were open too we could see the band a bit. :D At 6pm they let us in for the VIP session. Oh and before I didn’t mention all the Epica goods we got while buying the VIP tickets, the poster, keyleash with a VIP tag, and Epica glass. The band came in, Simone just passed right next to me smiling saying hi, and we could all get their signatures first. They were all so nice, I spoke more to Rob telling him it’s nice to have him in Epica. Also with Arien. OMG, I forgot to tell that before we went to eat Arien came out and we came to speak to him, we had a short chat, and again I gotta say he’s the nicest and kindest of all Epica!! Well, along with Mark. ;) But back to signing, Arien said hi again and then there was Mark and Simone and she is even more beautiful live than on pictures *__* I got two posters signed and my RFTI booklet. Then there we pictures, and I have one with the whole band, then with Simone, which is the worst picture of me ever but then I thought hey there’s gotta be balance everywhere so the ugliest me next to the most beautiful woman and I’m fine with it. Also got a pic with Isaac and actually don’t remember if with anyone else I was so overwhelmed; I will know when I collect the pics from all the people that took them for me. Then I came again to Simone for a pic and I thanked her finally for the lyrics for Unleashed and she told me a secret that they will play it tonight which was no secret for me anyway. lol The band quickly went away, and we started to wait at the door to be opened so we can rush and take over the first row. And so we did, I again stood right before Simone. :)
The first band to play was Voices of Destiny, which was a nice surprise, not like a wow surprised but I liked the songs and I definitely want to check them out now. I loved the keyboardist’s growls and generally he was a sexy man from Germany which is weird as people from Germany are not really sexy generally. What’s more weird is that he’s not my type but still he’s a sexy man. The growls did their job in it too I guess, and he’s attitude towards public and generally he’s being at stage too. ;) Then their guitar player is a sexy man too. Another sexy German guy. Weird. I am fangirling over them quite a lot. Werid. Their lady vocalist was really ok too as for a German woman. Weird.
Then there was Xandria. And that was a wow surprise. They were awesome!!! And the audience…we really gave them such a warm and crazy welcome, everyone seemed to enjoy the show and we could see how happy there are to see our reaction to their music. :) Their guitar player, the one with that something on his hand, I have no idea how to call it in English, and yeah I study English, was soooo cute and awesome and everything and German! And Manuela!!! Such a sweet lady, her voice is so amazing live, I think better than on the album, and she had such a great contact with the crowd. And actually the bassist and drummer, with whom I was sharing secret looks, were awesome too!! German people!!! And I got the setlist!
Then the wait for Epica… And Epica. Boom! Simone enters and I see her in my fav dress of the new outfits, yay I win! It was the best show ever! The sound, THE LIGHTS, the guys and their interaction with the crowd, Simone’s beauty and her voice. Secret looks now with Rob. And I win again. I loved the setlist, even though generally it is boring live it’s not that much ;) And we got Deter the Tyrant instead of Interal Warfare which is win. Serenade was a highlight and Storm the Sorrow. AND UNLEASHED. Ahhh. During the first “when I’m free” Simone bent over to me, looked at me and pointed the mic to me so I can sing, she remembered me and me thanking her for the lyrics!! Aaaaaaa. I sang and smiled to her. Now I regret I didn’t react more like screaming thank you or whatever… Then and the second “when I’m free” she pointed the mic at the whole audience…… Now I even think if the first “when I’m free” really happened to me, if it was really direct to me…aaaa… I thanked her on twitter but I doubt she had read that. But overall the show was just AMAZING! Best moments of my life. Epica’s music and lyrics mean life to me. Epica is life.
After the show I stayed for a while and got to meet Xandria, got their signatures on the setlist and got a pic with Manuela. She’s such a sweet lady, really. I told her the show was amazing and she thanked me. I think I love Xandria. They are just such sweet people! I also got a pic with Voices of Destiny, standing between the two sexy German guys!!! Oh. Yeah. SexyGermanMen. I didn’t meet Epica as I had to go to the hotel. Two of my friends stayed and they met everyone except for Sim ofc, and especially spent a lot of time backstage with Arie and Mark. Without me! But next time I am going to steal them for myself!!! Yessss! Definitely.
