Oscar Time is Soon Approaching

So, the Academy Awards are coming up soon, and I always get excited....so, I was looking at past winners and all that, and realized....why do I get so excited? Besides American Beauty in 1999, there have been no best picture winners I totally agree with since Annie Hall in 1977. Prior to that I agree with pretty much all of the ones going back to 1959 or so. This makes me wonder, are movies getting worse? I don't think so. There have been some really good movies this year and last year especially. So, does that mean the Academy Awards are getting more commercial? I don't think so either. I mean, they picked The Sound of Music, Westside Story, Rocky and My Fair Lady (which are all great movies) and they were all pretty commercial. So, is the Academy just choosing worse movies as best picture? It seems to be so....at least in my opinion. But, I am still excited for some reason; even though it will most likely be a letdown.

Wow....there is a huge gap here between 1977 and 1991....i need to see more movies from the 80's

Forest Gump - While this movie is good, I think Pulp Fiction should have

Braveheart - Again, good movie, but, I liked Dead Man Walking more.
