I Have Decided That I am Insane

On Friday I went to the Quorum offices in Houston with the rest of my group (three Aggies and one Ricer, all male). We had breakfast and talked to our recruiter and the president of the company before company executives took us off individually for interviews. Each interview was supposed to last about 45 minutes, but apparently everyone kept going over (Kerri said that never happens). After the interviews we had an office tour. The office was nice, and despite the cubicle culture everyone was very nice and happy. We had lunch and a series of presentations on how great Quorum is and the amazing benefits packages. Through it all I felt as if the theme of the office visit was more to convince me that I wanted the work there, and less to convince them that they wanted me.

In the end Kerri (the recruiter) said that once again everyone was very impressed with me and that they could definitely see me doing well at Quorum, so they made me an offer. A very impressive offer. $60,000/yr, profit sharing, performance based bonuses, insurance, and much more. It’s an amazing offer... And I’m not taking it.

How many people my age would say no to that much money? How many people would say no to that much money and a company that really takes care of their employees?

So, I’m insane. But I have a job!
