I am planning a conference for undergrads and grad students [including the professional schools: Law, Public Health, Medicine, etc.] about interdisciplinary responses to Hurricane Katrina. The conference will take place April 28-29, 2006. There will be a small registration fee, and depending on how many people show up, we can probably provide housing.
We are looking for the following:
-Academic papers
-Art (including visual, poetic, film, documentary, photography)
-Presentations of research
-Workshop ideas and facilitators
-Potential donors
All work must deal with issues relating to Hurricane Katrina, and interdisciplinary work would be exceptional. We will publish whatever is presented at the conference afterwards, either in print or on a website.
If you would like to come, or would like to submit something, please email me at mhamrai at emory.edu.
This is a really good chance to present your work at a conference of your peers and learn something about other disciplines in the process. Don't hestitate to email me if you have any questions.
