eaivalefay introduced me to an lj community that she participated in last year that she thought I might like... and I totally LOVE.
holiday_wishes was highlighted apparently by lj, and is a community where people post up to ten holiday wishes, and they can be anythings from non-tangibles to ridiculous requests of mountains of cash to dontaions to certain organization to that specific sweater in size ** in periwinkle blue... *shrugs* whatever. :)
People read over your wishes, and if it's within their means to do so, and they'd like to - they grant them for you. :)
It's completely flooding my friends page right now, but it's way too much fun at the same time.
I actually got to grant the top wish of someone already, and totally made their holidays. It was their 'long shot' wish, asking for a pretty high priced item... but her wish was a true one, and we had a spare to give away, and it will be loved and cherished and put to good use.
I feel so incredibly awesome that something that was just lying around my place was exactly what someone else really needed. I was able to help, and I did... and it's great.
I've actually made a new friend through this as well - mind you, we just started talking - but I think we'll be quite good friends soon - she lives Seattle and is on the Board of Directors for the NorthWest Tolkien Society! omg!! ... there's a Tolkien Convention here!!! GAH!!! and it's not the Gathering!!! *squee*
So yeah... I've posted a
wishlist here Totally check out this thing... it started as a meme, but has totally grown into something huge.
Maybe you've got something lying around that would make someone's holidays and in turn -they might have something for you.
And on other notes - Colin and I got the condo... it's a done deal. We're going to be homeowners! hee!
And we've had news that our ScaryAssCradle has been shipped and is on its way...
And our wedding certificate has been picked up and is being overnight'd tomorrow...
And packing and moving just feels impossible in two weeks... gah... (but I get to paint! *squee*)
Thanksgiving is this week, and it means TURKEY!! *raises the roof*
woot!
