Folks, a very quick art rec for you from the SH fandom, where I've been lurking recently: the remarkable
Remains by
paperflower86 (worksafe). This is a black-and-white drawing of Holmes as an English Decadent in the style of Aubrey Beardsley (I believe!) that is based on the exchange at the end of "The Sign of Four:"
"The division seems rather unfair," I remarked. "You have done all the work in this business. I get a wife out of it, Jones gets the credit, pray what remains for you?"
"For me," said Sherlock Holmes, "there still remains the cocaine-bottle." And he stretched his long white hand up for it.
A truly stunning image, suggesting a fin-de-siecle version of Holmes we don't see very often. See also the colored
version with a scruffier Holmes, based on the 2009 movie. Enjoy!
