It really is, isn't it? I love meta (in fact, I think I friended you for your meta, way back when), but there's something powerful and persuasive about re-imagining these characters that all the analysis in the world can't approach.

There are days when fandom makes me see the world differently. I love that. M.

What's pretty cool is that well, I'm finding that my voice isn't so much in the wilderness right now, in terms of say, various rants and fandom and attitudes re: race, class and literary intent versus what's being read. It's nice. :)'

Isn't it? As I was saying to jazzy above, there's only so much meta can do; at a certain point, you need to re-imagine as well as analyze.

NYC was exhausting! Good, but exhausting. Had an amazing tour of a skyscraper under construction and loved the Bauhaus and Saarinen exhibitions. Thanks for your suggestions, by the way. I didn't wind up eating out at all--I went back to my room and collapsed most nights--but the students took several of them. M.
