Here I Am!
Once in a very great while I feel compelled to write at least something in this thing we all call Livejournal. The very name itself it almost impossible to understand. This journal does not breath, nor have a pulse and therefore can not possible be alive. Unless of course this is the Journal of Life, which I suppose could be understandable...
Well anyways, on to my main topic.
I love the History Channel. It is a very interesting and informative channel. Just today I saw a program that makes me wish our President George W. Bush Jr. was never elected. In fact I wish that there was no such thing as elections. They are great and all, but they provide ample time of confusion and strain that makes political pressures very hard to deal with and often ignored. One great Example of this is the USS Cole.
Remember the USS Cole? The US Military ship that was attacked in Yemen by suicide bombers on October 12, 2000? I had completely forgotten. In the investigation after the bombing, it was concluded that the bombings were the work of al-Qaeda. The people linked to the bombing who were not arrested by the Yemen and US Governments had been identified and were being monitored by the CIA. In the summer of 2001, increased chatter between suspected terrorists peaked. This intelligence pointed to a meeting of terrorists. Attending the meeting were none other than the very people identified in the bombing.
Somehow with all of this intelligence and positive identification, the very people identified in the bombing were allowed Visas to enter the US. Somehow, even after the CIA had made the link between known terrorists with ties to the bombing of the Cole, increased chatter among known terrorsts, and videos of Osama himself VOWING attacks on US soil after the bombing of the Cole, these people, these KNOWN terrorists were allowed to enter the United States of America. The Visas that where ID'd by the CIA were NOT red flagged EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE KNOWN TERRORISTS!
How did things slip?
Presidential Elections.
Clinton knew it was the end of his run and felt confined as to what he could do about the growing threat other than warn the upcoming administration.
I say fuck you Clinton for not doing more when you had the chance.
Bush knew what was happening because Clinton told him. Bush's aides told him. They even wrote him "strongly worded" memos saying simply, The threat is there and we must do something about it. Did he act? No. He felt as if it was not his problem, it was on the watch of the previous administration.
This negligence is what led to 9/11/2001.
I say fuck you Bush for having your head so far up your ass you just didn't give a shit.
