Star Wars: The Force Awakens *SPOILERS*

Dec 22, 2015 11:17

I have been on a somewhat curbed internet hiatus since Thursday last week (yes, we got it a day earlier than most, but the tickets have been sold out around here for weeks and weeks), and thankfully avoided spoilers, and really, for this film, I am so glad I did. Of course I grew up watching the original trilogy (who didn't?), however I only know bits and pieces from the prequels, so my understanding in that regard may be a little sketchy.

Excuse me while I weep forever! Han! Usually Disney kills the moms... He handed Chewie the detonator, so obviously he wasn't going anywhere after that, but I was still shocked when Kylo/Ben killed him. Han Solo is... you just don't kill off Han Solo, okay? I desperately want him to come back. Could it have been a ploy on Kylo's part to prove himself to Hux and Snoke? Could Snoke revive Han?

*wibble*

the movie felt like Star Wars, but maintained that modern edge to it with the jokes and call backs, etc. The plot was a little New Hope-y, but we kinda figured that was going to happen already. I adore the new characters. Poe/Finn *g*, Rey, much love. BB-8 is TOO CUTE, I want one.

* What is Rey's backstory? Is she related to one of the previous Jedi characters? Luke? Ben Kenobi? Or is she just randomly really good at using the force with little to no training (that we know of..)

* Did Rey and Leia communicate through the force before they ever met in person? That hug was mighty personal.

* Are all the new order storm troopers like Finn? Kidnapped as children and trained to be storm troopers? Reprogrammed if they deviate? No clones?

* How did the vision that Luke's light saber gave Rey show him on the Island if it has been sitting in Maz's dusty box for years?

* Will Luke train Rey?

* What was the reason behind Kylo/Ben's turn to the dark side? I don't believe having a little of Vader in him did it, nor Han and Leia's decision to send him away for training. So many angry young men in this franchise. Was there a catalyst? And how was Luke involved?

Visually stunning of course, this movie is beautiful. The score undertoned the story so well, the subtlety really worked for me, wonderful acting, Carrie Fisher broke my heart.

I want Han back.
