Tutorial for this icon. Tutorial written with PSP8 and AS3.
The numbers refer to each layer being added.
1. Start with an image. This is what I used.
Crop it and adjust the image quality until you get what you want as the base. I'm going the call this the base layer.
2. Duplicate the base, select the left side of Alvis with the lasso tool with 10-20 feathering, and erase.
3. Use this image and set the property to overlay with about 50% opacity.
4. Duplicate the last layer, and change the property to lighten with 100% opacity.
5. Bloodfill with this color, and set the property to color(legacy).
#2596FF
6. Copy the base and paste as a new layer. Set the property to burn with 36% opacity, or whatever you want.
7. For the word Wings, I used P22 Cezanne with this color and set the property to hard light.
#00559C
You may use any font or color, but make sure the color isn't too light if you want at least some legibility.
8. For the pixel words, use the same color but set the property to burn. In my image, some of the words are lost due to Alvis's white dress.
9. Duplicate the last layer, set the property to hard light with 65% opacity. Erase the parts that were hidden in the last layer. The best way is to hide the current layer.
10. Draw a 1px black outline. Set the property to burn with 72% opacity.
11. Add a new layer above the base, the first layer. If you haven't modified frames for your minimovie, do it now. Make sure you don't have too many frames or you will have an enormous file size. Copy one frame, and paste onto this layer. With the move tool, move the layer into desired position. Set the opacity to 20% or whatever works with your minimovie. Merge all layers and copy to AS. Undo merge all, and paste the next frame as a new layer. Use the previous frame to help you align the next frame. Make sure you delete the previous frame to prevent confusion. Repeat this process with the rest of the frames, and you are ready to save. Play around with optimization until you get to the right file size. I had to go all the way to level 1, but since this minimovie is monochromatic, there's little quality loss. If you still have room, add fade in and fade out (usually only one of each for minimovies this large) for smoother loop.
Edit: auctiongripes.com is down, so I have lost all of my tutorial images.
